Things have been crazy the last few weeks...strep throat, shoulder pain and a dog with a bacteria caused by eating a wild animal! Yikes! ANyway here are some things I did this week on SCS:

The Ways to use it challenge was to make a quick and simple gift item...I whipped up this coffee gift bag topper in 15 minutes! WOW!

The sketch challenge from last week that I just got around to uploading...

This week's sketch challenge....I am loving my new Gina K stamps and nesties!

getting ready

here are a few challenges I have participated in this past week on SCS...

This was for Monday's Technique Lovers Challenge to use this speckled background technique. I had no Simple Green so I improvised with Shaklee's Basic H cleaner. Worked good IMHO...
This was for the Ways to Use it challenge on thanksgiving to make a thankful card! Riley here is very thankful he didn't buy the crappy fake tree I did last year.... I had to get a new one yesterday....
This is for the sketch challenge from last Wednesday...Rox actually used one of MY cards as the sketch! I was so excited I had to make another....
So that's it for now....a few of my Mommy friends are coming over to make some Holiday gift card holders so I will post those and the tags I made at my class last week ASAP! Thanks for looking!

Halloween fun stuff!

Here are a few Halloween projects I've been working on...

This card uses a technique I found on SCS technique lovers challenge...Stamp the background with a glue pad and use the same color glitter to cover...makes a fabulous sparkly background!

This was a quickie I had to make for my friend's son who is totally into Halloween and is dressing up as Frankenstein!

I just love my Rubber Romance Diva Stamps! This witchy one was a quickie and the glittery PP makes it awesome!

The was for the Technique challenge this week on SCS...make a mini pizza box. So easy and so fun! I think I'll do some more and put some 3X3 notecards in it as gifts for the holidays!
Here is a side view... BTW I used stamps from PaperTrey Ink set called Spooky Sweets II

Yummy mini cinnamon buns!

Thanks for stopping by!

more previews!

These are some previews of the new sets to be released on August 10 from H&M stamps...They are called Hoorah and Hoorah sentiments.

I used watercolor pencils to color this one...I didn't want to do the camo green again...I hope somewhere someone is wearing brownish fatigues and likes this!

For the BG on this one I used my newest favorite technique...polished stone! I used old olive, creamy caramel, gold and Ranger butterscotch. I think it made a rather cool camo style! And how is it possible that I actually HAD a camo print ribbon! YIKES!

For this I searched through my scraps and came up with this lovely paper from CTMH...and dontcha LOOOVVEEE grungeboard! The star is from my big ol' pack of grungeboard...I inked it with the leftover from the polished stone!

Since I have no family or friends in the military, I am sending these to someone on SCS who collects cards for the troops along with a pile of other cards.  God Bless them all!

Don't forget about my BLOG CANDY on the previous post! You have until midnight on August 7th!

Preview and Blog Candy!

Happy Friday! Here is my first preview card for H&M stamps newest release! These sets are uber-patriotic, one is all images and the other is the matching sentiments. Great for scrapbook pages and cards for our troops!
Here is the official kick off from Heather:

"H&M Stamps has a new release coming up on August 10th, and today is the start of our Sneak Peaks. We are doing something different this month and are dedicating it to the military, thier families and the people who serve and protect us each and every day. We want to thank everyone who risk their lives every day so that we may live a better life, but we also want to remember those who gave their lives fighting for us, especially those during 9-11. The anniversary is coming up next month, and seeing how I was in the Army myself during this time and remember how it affected me and still affects me, I couldn't think of a better way to do a tribute. H&M Stamps is releasing only 2 new sets this month. For every customer who purchases both the sets available this month, we are donating $5.00 to the military, their families as well as other's all accross the US. Education should be a right and not a priveledge, so the $5.00 being donated will go to purchase back packs for education to those military families that can't afford it as well as Katrina victims and others who need supplies as well. Every little bit helps, so if you would like to donate, please send pay pal donations to handmstamps@hotmail.com"

Oh, yeah....I did say BLOG CANDY, right?

As many of you know I am a Paramedic and my DH is a NYC Police Officer. We were both in Manhattan during 9-11 and worked very closely with all the other members of service and lots of reservists. All I can say is they are some of the bravest and most selfless people I have ever known. Everyone who lent a hand that day and the weeks that followed is on my HERO list!

All you have to do is comment on this post and let me know about a hero in your life.
You will be entered into a drawing for a set of stamps from H&M called
 Celebrate The Day.

I will choose a winner with a very high tech system (my 5 y/o will pull the name from a hat) on August 8th. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS!

busy weekend!

Well, I had a very busy stamping weekend! Right here on Splitcoaststampers, my virtual home away from home, it was a VSN Mini on Friday night, some challenges I did for the week and this whole week was the Dirty Dare 08. That is a bunch of awesome challenges set up by members of the dirty dozen right here on SCS.

This was for the Limited Supplies Challenge this week...a tough one! Limited layers, no markers or coloring things, no Cuttlebug, no other embellishments except for ribbon or twine...only ink and stamps! Yikes! Well, thanks to my Mother-in-Law I now can make awesome clouds with the help of a scallop punch! So there is my balloons in the sky!

This one was one of my favs from VSN Mini...the polished stone technique. I just love how the paper looks like an actual piece of stone or marble! This beachy themed card went perfect with the subtle colors in the polished stone.

This was another fav of mine from the mini...to use only what was left on our workspace at the end of the night! Well, mine was a total mess and I knew I was going to do some kind of quilt or patchwork when I saw a few scalloped squares lying around. And my Martha stamp was a hit!

So that was just a few...I'll try to post some more tomorrow!

PS *** update on the doll beds....I put them on ebay for  a 7 day auction...no takers! Not even any questions asked! :( So I relisted it, lowered the shipping and figured I'd try one more time! We'll see...
If you want to inquire about one, please email me directly at resqbarbie@mac.com

You can check out Artfully Ila HERE....she has some to give away (lucky girl!).  When I actually get some I'll certainly post....Have a great week!
